Southside Minneapolis rapper and producer Tufawon (1/3 of Iluminous 3) celebrates the release of his latest projectThe Send-Off, an album dedicated to expanding horizons and increasing cultural awareness. Growing up in poverty without the privilege to travel outside his immediate community, the importance of worldly influence and global understanding wasn't instilled early on, but an eye-opening series of trips to Cuba with the US Cuba Artist Exchange of the Twin Cities enlightened his perspective and broadened his creativity. Working with Cuban rappers, producers, and instrumentalists brought a new inspiration to the Minneapolis veteran's art and hustle, and he's been itching to continue to explore the world and grow even further.
The Send-Off is about freedom, centered around the limitless possibilities of the vast human experience. The show's proceeds will go towards funding future creative endeavors through travel. The album is Tufawon putting his feet forward, with the notion that this is only the beginning.
